I am posting my links for my article "How To Start A Successful Home Business" here on my blog because the Author Bio space that most Article directories allow does not allow ample character space (500 limit on most). This was the easiest way to remedy the situation and give you all the links I believe are really important to read - and bookmark or add to your favorites!

How to Start a Successful Home Business

Two things are sure when it comes to starting any successful home business:

1. Whether you believe you can, or you believe you can't, either way you are right.

2. It is as important to know what not to do as it is to know what to do.

If you believe you can, know that success in a home business is a process, a journey, and not a single event. It is true that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and it ends with a single step. The unknown is exactly how many steps are in between to make your new home business successful.

If you believe you can’t, you won't take the necessary action steps to get your home business started at all, or you won’t overcome inevitable obstacles that will stand in your way at some point in your home business. Learn about the best ways to start a home business on the free sites below, and with that knowledge you will believe in yourself!

Mentors and coaches can be a wonderful thing and can help speed up the process. One thing, however, must be mentioned:

Beware of false profits.

No, that is not a misspelling. Beware of those business opportunities that tell you that you will make huge profits immediately in a new home business. It can take time to generate enough profit to support you in a startup home business.

Be sure to have a good cash reserve or another reliable source of income to supplement you for at least the first 3-6 months. If possible, keep you current job and start your home business part-time until you build up enough income to go full-time.

Starting and running a successful home business takes persistence. You should be willing to go the distance or do not start at all. Any successful home business will involve work and expenses you did not originally plan on somewhere in the process.

You are on the right track as long as you are taking action steps in the direction of the goals for your home business. You have failed only if you have stopped taking action steps toward your goal; otherwise, be patient and remember you are still on the journey. Persistence will prevail!

As long as you continue taking action steps that lead you toward your goals, even your mistakes can help you. Mistakes are sometimes your only reliable tool for learning what works and what doesn't work in your home business. The important thing is take action!

If you continue making the same mistakes you are doomed. Learn from your mistakes, change your actions accordingly, and you will achieve different results with different actions. Eventually the desired result, a successful home business, will be yours if you are persistent.

Before you start, it is crucial to form a business plan and a marketing plan. Learning what pitfalls to avoid before starting a new home business can save you thousands of dollars and possibly be the difference in a successful home business or failure.

These days, it seems like everyone wants to work
from home and make money on the Internet. But
before you even turn on your computer, the first
question you have to ask yourself is whether
you’re cut out for this kind of work.

The fact is, building a home-based business isn’t
for everyone. Some people like the commute. They
really do enjoy having a boss who tells them what
to do, and they like the routine of working
nine-to-five for an ordinary salary that can
barely pay the mortgage. Personally, I think
they’re nuts.

More reasonably, there are people who are
concerned about the risk of starting up their own
business. They’re not sure it’s worth the
investment of time and money, and they’re scared
of the responsibility that comes with running
their own company. They wonder if there is
another way to escape the rat race.

I’m sure there is. You could win the lottery or
wait for your Aunt Sue to keel over and leave you
her condo. Or maybe you could sit down with a pen
and paper and draw the blueprint for "The Next
Big Thing". Anything can happen... Right?

For me, what happened was creating a successful,
self-running Internet marketing system. It didn’t
happen without effort. It didn’t happen without
at least some initial investment of both time and
money and, of course, it doesn’t happen now
without me making sure that the taxes are filed
and the paperwork is done. But it happened.

I’m my own boss. I work from home according to my
own schedule and I get to pocket all the cash my
business makes. If you’re prepared to give an
e-business the time, the work and the money it
needs to get started and get growing, it can
happen for you too.
